Ryerson is a Canadian leader in innovative, career-focused education and a university clearly on the move. A distinctly urban university with a mission to serve societal need, it is committed to engaging its community. A combination of theory and professional learning provides graduate and undergraduate education that distinguishes Ryerson from other universities. That difference is reflected in the program mix and the continual reinforcement of classroom lectures through formal contact with business and industry, laboratory work, field trips and work experience in the professional community. Innovation and entrepreneurship are a focus, exemplified by the Digital Media Zone (DMZ), a multidisciplinary workspace for student entrepreneurs. Since its launch in 2010, the DMZ has helped more than 200 innovators to incubate and accelerate 34 start-ups and launch over 60 projects.
Graduate studies at Ryerson have grown to host 2,300 master’s and doctoral students in dozens of programs.
Ryerson offers more than 100 undergraduate, master’s and PhD programs in five faculties and the Yeates School of Graduate Studies. The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education is Canada’s largest, with 70,000 registrations annually.
Ryerson is helping to reshape downtown Toronto with campus developments that include the Ryerson Athletics Centre at the
Gardens; the School of Image Arts building and Ryerson Image Centre; the Student Learning Centre on the city’s main street; and a planned health sciences building.
